From Complexity to Clarity

Creative Mornings Charleston

The only event I like waking up early for

Creative Mornings is a global organization with 255 chapters across 70 countries. (Find a chapter where you live!) Every month, our team hosts a free breakfast variety show with live music and local art for 150+ attendees. I get to curate speakers from Charleston's deep well of creative talent and match them to our global themes.

For me, this event is a place where all my passions converge: performance, art, storytelling, and strong coffee.

Memorable Moments on the Red Dot

TEDxCharelston

As a speaker coach for TEDxCharleston, I help researchers, doctors, entrepreneurs, and big thinkers craft talks that inspire audiences to think, act, and appreciate. Here are some of the brilliant speakers I've coached:

Leonardo Ferreira, MD and his team at MUSC are working on a cure for Type I diabetes. He talks about how close they are, and why curiosity — and consistent funding for research — are two of the most essential drivers of scientific discovery.

Dr. Joseph Scalea is a leading transplant surgeon who started asking his patients why they wanted to live. He was surprised by the consistency of their answers and shares how their insights have changed his own outlook on life.

A survivor herself, Megan Manigault transformed her experience of sexual abuse into a story of leadership, advocacy. I AM VOICES provides housing and supportive services for survivors to reclaim their agency, and their voice.

Dr. Melissa Milanak will put you to sleep — her tips, not her talk. She teaches us everything we’re doing wrong before bed, what to do to fix it, and how the research backs it up. Sweet Dreams.

Shaquira Langley inspires us to support teachers on the front lines of education by amplifying their voices and sparking conversations to build a better future for teachers, students, and the nation.

Co-founder of Media Reform, SC, and local radio station Ohm Radio, Vikki Matsis has a front row seat on the challenges of our ever shifting media landscape. She urges us to change how we consume information in this era of increasingly unregulated news.
